Scar / Stretchmark removal treatment

A) What is a Scar/ Stretchmark removal treatment ?

Stretch marks are lines or streaks that appear on the skin when it is stretched and loses its elasticity. They can be pink, purple or white, depending on their age. Commonly affected areas include the breasts, thighs, stomach, hips and back. Stretch marks often occur during periods of rapid growth or weight gain such as puberty or pregnancy. While they may fade over time, various treatments like laser therapy, micro-needling, plasma therapy and chemical peels can help reduce their appearance.

Laser therapy is a popular treatment for scar and stretch mark removal. It involves using a laser device that emits high energy light to target the affected skin.

Micro-needling entails using a device with tiny needles to induce controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This process triggers the healing response of the body, stimulating collagen and elastin production.
In the plasma therapy the blood of the individual getting the treatment is utilized. A small amount of blood is drawn and processed to separate the plasma which is rich in growth factors. The plasma is then injected or applied topically to the scarred or stretch mark-affected areas.
Chemical peels involve using a chemical solution on the skin to promote controlled exfoliation. This process removes the top layers of damaged skin, revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath.

B) What to expect during consultation ?

The healthcare professional will begin by understanding the medical history of the individual being treated including any previous surgeries, health conditions and current medications. They will evaluate the scars or stretch marks, considering factors such as their location, severity and skin type. The designated expert will discuss the available treatment options based on the condition of the individual. They will explain the benefits, risks and expected outcomes of each option. Based on the evaluation and discussion, the healthcare professional will create a customized treatment plan tailored to the needs of the particular individual. The health care expert will describe how the treatment works, what to expect during the procedure, and any potential discomfort or side effects that may occur. The healthcare professional will discuss the cost of the treatment including any potential additional expenses. The healthcare professional will schedule follow up appointments to monitor your progress, assess the effectiveness of the treatment and make any necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.

C) Treatment process at Springs Clinic :

Stretch mark reduction treatment options may include laser treatment, microneedling with plasma induction therapy, and chemical peels. Depending on the type of stretch mark, your doctor may recommend these treatments individually or in combination.

Laser treatment involves the use of light that penetrates the dermis layer to stimulate collagen production. This stimulation helps replace the old stretched skin with new, healthier skin. During the treatment, the skin is cleansed, and a topical anesthesia is applied for about 30 minutes.

Afterward, the area is cleaned again, laser shots are given at specific parameters, icing is done to soothe the skin and topical medication is applied.

Microneedling, is another treatment often combined with laser therapy. It involves creating micro traumas in the skin to stimulate collagen production and replace the old skin with new tissue. The treatment begins with cleaning the area and applying a numbing cream. After 25-30 minutes, the Needling Treatment is performed, along with the infusion of Hyaluronic Acid to accelerate collagen production. After the treatment, you may notice redness on the treated area, which can be soothed with icing and the application of medication. The redness may last for a few days before disappearing and some healing may occur. The next session would typically be scheduled 15 to 20 days later.
